Matt Gee is at data scientist, researcher, and entrepreneur.  He is the co-founder and CEO of BrightHive, a social enterprise providing an open source data collaborative platform connecting investments in education and training to labor market outcomes. He is also a senior research scientist at the University of Chicago’s Center for Data Science and Public Policy, where he leads the Workforce Data Initiative that supports public-private research collaborations using artificial intelligence to change the way American workers prepare for and find jobs. He is the co-founder of the Eric and Wendy Schmidt Data Science for Social Good Fellowship, and has helped found and served as a board member for several social enterprises using data and analytics to solve pressing social challenges, ranging from improving health service delivery and crisis response in war-torn regions to changing how utilities and governments invest in energy efficiency. He is an open source software evangelist and an active advocate for improving access to STEM opportunities for disadvantaged youth.
